Calling all Couponers...I need your help!

I saw a post on craigslist a few days ago from a lady who was needing donated school supplies to help inner city children in Evansville.  I contacted her to see how I could help and the discovered that her church is putting together a backpack giveaway and I grew up one block away from this church.  I grew up with a lot of kids who had struggling families and little means and know first hand the need in this community.  So here is how I need your help:

The following items are needed for donation:
pens
pencils
folders
paper
glue
crayons
markers
rulers
BACKPACKS (very much needed) Menards has these for $.99 after a $5.99 mail in rebate and they are nice bags
They also would accept:
shampoo
toothpaste
toothbrushes
snacks like juice boxes, apples, bananas, cookies, chips

The Backpack Giveaway is July 31st and will be at Resurgence Church at 816 Jefferson Street in Evansville.  The contact person is Kate Mullen at 453-1259.  If you have extra supplies in your stockpile then this is an excellent option to donate to.  If you can not drop off your donation then contact me at marymwirtz@yahoo.com and I will see if I can pick it up from you and drop it off to them.  If you have met me then you know how strongly I feel about giving and I love opportunities like this to use my couponing skills to help those in need.  Especially when these items will go to children I know really need them and may go without otherwise.  Imagine how that child feels on their first day of school when they are carrying their books in a plastic Walmart bag and their classmates have brand name backpacks.  I hope you can find it in your heart to donate.

  1. I love couponing for charities! I coupon for the Vanderburgh Humane Society as often as possible. They are always in need of animal care products, food, office supplies, cleaning supplies, medical supplies for the clinic, etc. I want to encourage everyone to check out their website and see if your stockpile can help provide any items for a furry friend in need!
