In today P&G (7/31) you’ll find a coupon for $1/1 Cascade with no size restriction! Look for the 3 pack trial size priced at 97¢. That makes it FREE after coupon! These have been found in various places, including travel section, dishwashing section, or on a separate endcap.

My Walgreens trip today

I had a sick kiddo today so I only made it to one store this morning which was Walgreens.  And I was happy to run into a fellower couponer, HI BARBIE!  It was nice to see you.
The folders were $.11 each, the markers were FREE after the $1 RR, the fish oil was free after a $7 RR, the hair clips were FREE after a $2 RR and the toilet paper was $1.50 each.  Today was the last day to do that deal.  So my total purchase for these items after the RR I received was $3.55.  I also bought in a 2nd transaction 2 packages of Walgreens brand diapers that are buy one get one 1/2 off and used the $2 off Walgreens coupon from the Baby booklet.  It made them around $5 each which isn't a great price but I needed the diapers. There was a lot of toys on clearance at the St. Joe Walgreens and I bought a bubble machine for half price.  Might want to check that aisle out for future Christmas gifts.

Calling all Couponers...I need your help!

I saw a post on craigslist a few days ago from a lady who was needing donated school supplies to help inner city children in Evansville.  I contacted her to see how I could help and the discovered that her church is putting together a backpack giveaway and I grew up one block away from this church.  I grew up with a lot of kids who had struggling families and little means and know first hand the need in this community.  So here is how I need your help:

The following items are needed for donation:
pens
pencils
folders
paper
glue
crayons
markers
rulers
BACKPACKS (very much needed) Menards has these for $.99 after a $5.99 mail in rebate and they are nice bags
They also would accept:
shampoo
toothpaste
toothbrushes
snacks like juice boxes, apples, bananas, cookies, chips

The Backpack Giveaway is July 31st and will be at Resurgence Church at 816 Jefferson Street in Evansville.  The contact person is Kate Mullen at 453-1259.  If you have extra supplies in your stockpile then this is an excellent option to donate to.  If you can not drop off your donation then contact me at marymwirtz@yahoo.com and I will see if I can pick it up from you and drop it off to them.  If you have met me then you know how strongly I feel about giving and I love opportunities like this to use my couponing skills to help those in need.  Especially when these items will go to children I know really need them and may go without otherwise.  Imagine how that child feels on their first day of school when they are carrying their books in a plastic Walmart bag and their classmates have brand name backpacks.  I hope you can find it in your heart to donate.

2 Inserts in this Sunday's paper

SundayCouponPreview.com has 2 inserts listed up for this Sunday.  A P&G and a RedPlum.  I love my P&G coupons!! Go to the link to see all the coupons listed.

$1 Milk Coupon

GO HERE to request a $1 off coupon for any white milk.  Yep, ANY WHITE MILK.  Kinda weird but the coupon will be mailed to you.  It can't be strawberry or chocolate, just plain old white. It's also good for any size milk so this might equal free milk if you buy the small bottle.

Free John Frieda Hair Color???

GO HERE and take a survey to see if you qualify for a FREE Box of Precision Foam Hair Colour. They did this giveaway a month or so ago and I received a coupon for a free box in the mail a few weeks later. So if you have already done this it may not let you win again.
**not everyone will qualify, some people will get a $1 printable coupon and some will get a free sample

Target Clearance

I was at the North Park Target today and forgot my camera again but I did see a lot of great clearance deals throughout the store that I wanted to pass along.  There are 2 double sided racks of 75% clearance in the women's department.  I saw denim jeans marked $7.98 and you can use the $3 off any denim coupon on those.  I also saw capris (that were pretty cute) priced at $10.98.  There were denim maternity jeans priced at $6.98 (I think) so they would be $3.98 after the coupon.  AWESOME price for brand new maternity jeans.  There is also a lot of clearance in the toy department.  I saw Chuck the Trucks marked around $6 and Zhu Zhu pets at $2.50.

The grocery section is all done now and it looks nice.  But the womens and mens clothing section is a big hot mess.  I shop with kids in a shopping cart an I have to go through the aisles with that and it's very difficult to do that now.  I'm hoping they are going to fix that issue.  I felt like a mouse in a maze trying to find a way to get to the back wall to the clearance racks.  The electronics section is now much better organized that it was but the toy section seems smaller now.

Over all I love my Nort side Target. I think they have better clearance and more of it.  I have my favorite cashiers there who know me and it makes life much easier.

Local Organic Food Co-Op

I'm so excited to have this local resource for organic food. I live in Posey County and there is a new organic store in Mount Vernon called NaeRae's Naturally Organic Foods (GO HERE to check out the website).  They are now offering an organic co-op. My friend Marci was able to get everything pictured below for around $100.
(4) organic celery sleves: $8.56

(2) 2# Bags organic bosc pears: $6.86
(2) 3# Bags organic red beets: $20.26
4# Organic carrots: $7.24
Organic (Non-GMO) Red Beets - THE BEST LIVER CLEANSER!

3# organic white peaches: $7.08
1# organic shitake mushrooms: $10.37
2 pkg. (6 oz ea) organic blackberries: $5.46
Also pictured: organic butter: $4.58; free-range chicken eggs: $3.00; 2 pkgs of the best tortilla chips on the planet: $7.18
6 bunches (big bunches!) of organic kale: $10.38 ($1.73 each)
3# bag of organic Gala apples: $4.71
2# bag of organic baby spinach: $8.92

If you are interested in learning more or joining the co-op please contact Marci Terry at marciterry4allofyou@yahoo.com

In regards to couponing and organic foods, well as you can guess there are few coupons out there for it.  This is part of the reason why I do couponing so I can afford to buy organic (when I can). The money I save on getting all my personal hygiene products for free can go towards my organic foods.  Co-ops are an excellent option to reduce your grocery bill and the deal that Marci got above is a good savings for fresh organic produce and the variety she was able to get as well.

Get a $25 Gift Certificate to Deer Head for $3

Restaurants.com always has lots of gift certificate deals.  Today I was able to get a $25 gift certificate for $3.  The fine print reads that you need to spend $35 and 18% gratuity is added onto the bill and it needs to be dine in only.  GO HERE to see what deal you can get.  There will be a window for you to enter in your zip code and there are several restaurants listed in the Evansville area, but Deer Head was my choice.   When you check out, enter the word SAVE to get 80% off.  And if you are new to their site you will get an extra discount bringing your total to $3.  If your not interested in this yourself it would make a nice birthday or Christmas gift.

4 Free Dove Deodorant Samples

These sample requests are in Spanish but my browser translated it to English automatically.  You have to "qualify" to get the sample but apparently I did for all 4 of them.  Good luck!

Dove Ultimate Clear Deodorant
Dove Energy Glow Body Wash
Dove Advanced Care Shampoo
Dove Calming Night Body Wash and Body Lotion

My Menards Trip

I had over $40 in rebates for Menards so actually did not pay anything for this purchase.  The Hex keys were free, the backpacks were $.99 after rebate and I believe the the glue and markers are $.39 after a $.50 rebate.  Their back to school rebate sale goes until July 31st. They were sold out of almost all the good stuff but an employee told me that they expect another shipment soon.

My Walgreens trip today

I paid just over $10 for all this and got back $6 in RR.  I'm actually not very happy with this.  The blog I followed to get this deal stated that I should receive a $3 RR for the 2/$4.98 Crest sale and also another $2 Catalina RR for a promotion but the $2 one did not print.  I will probably return the other tube of toothpaste.  So BEWARE that our Walgreens must not participating in the Crest promotion even though it states online that they are. It's possible also that I just didn't get my math right, I did get a D in Algebra in high school. Other than the one tube of toothpaste, everything else was almost FREE.  The crayons need no coupon, they are on sale for $1 with a $1 RR. The Skintimate was $1.99 with a $1.50 printable coupon which made it $.49.  The Scuni's where $2 with a $2RR.

What was in Your Mailbox today

Mondays have been my days to find a packed mailbox of freebies.  This is what I got today...and there were NO BILLS.  YEAH!!!
The Crest Sample pack came with coupons that do not expire until 2013.  The makeup is from Aveda and I was surprised to get a 10 pack of the Tide Stain Release!

Half Price Tickets to Big Splash Water Park

Here's a great deal for some summer fun or hold on to this to go this winter.  GO HERE to Living Social to get a $8 Adult ticket (normally $16) and $7 kids tickets (normally $15).  You can get 4 tickets and there are 6 days left on this deal.

More Great Target Coupons

Target has been very generous this week to us couponers.  The Sharpie, Papermate and Scotch Tape coupons have reset.  I was able to print 2 more per computer of each one.  The Papermate pens you should be able to get for $.02.  I believe the Sharpie pens are no longer on sale but are $1.54 regularly so it would be $.54.  I'm not sure about the Scotch tape but if any of you know the current price at Target, let us all know.

I'm on Facebook

Just a reminder that I post coupon deals on Facebook also.  Look for me as "Couponing For My Cause" and like me.

My Target Trip

I used the $2 off Graphic Tees Target Coupon to get this shirt for FREE.  It's a July 4th t-shirt marked clearance for $2.
There is a rack of 50%-75% clearance denim jeans at the North Park Target. With the $3 off Denim Target Coupon it would make these jeans $4.98.
These cute little denim jeans in the toddler section are on clearance for $4 and will be $2 after the $2 off Newborn to kids denim Target coupon.
So I already told you about the free t-shirts.  I also got 10 packages of FREE Bic pens with the reset of the Coupons.com $1 off any 2 Bic products coupon.  The Hot Wheels car was $.17 with a $1 off coupon (no longer available).  The purple shirt was on clearance for $5 and I used the $3 off any plus size apparel to get it for $2.  The Carefree pantiliners were FREE with a $1 Target coupon that was mailed to me in a booklet.
By the way, they now have the fridge and freezer section of the store open but it's not fully stocked.  It's suppose to be 100% done by the 24th.  But it was nice to see it open.  Another side note, I noticed after I checked out that 2 of my coupons did not come off.  I went up to the customer service desk and told them and they quickly gave me the cash back for them.  It pays to check your receipt if you can spare the time or just hold on to it and go back to the store at another time.

My Walgreens trip today

The pencils were $.19 each which I bought as fillers but was a great buy also.

The Huggies wipes were $.79 each after the $1 Walgreens July Coupon Booklet coupon and the $.50 Huggies coupon in the 7/17 SS.  You only need to cut out 1 Walgreens coupon and it will take $1 off both of them.  The cashier did have to manually price down the wipes because the $1 coupon was not working.  Their computer system has some kind of glitch.  So beware of that and you may need to inform the cashier of it.

The Expo washable markers are $5.99 and there is a $3 Walgreens July coupon booklet (again you only need to cut out one).  I printed out 2 months ago 4 $2 off Expo Washable markers coupons so I finally got to use them just before they were ready to expire.  After coupons I paid $.99 each for these.

So this was interesting.  In the July coupon booklet is a $3 off 2 Carefree pantiliners 16 - 60 pack.  I bought 2 packages of 20 fo $1.49 each so I actually got paid $.02 to buy these and never had to use a manufacturers coupon.  If this is a product you would use then it's time to stockpile.

Coupon Organization

If your like me then sometimes your coupon organization system can become one big hot mess.  I thought it might be helpful to post pictures and some links to different ways you can get organized.  Just about every couponer I know has a different way to do it.  There may be a few ideas here and there that will work for you or maybe you'll realize that you already got a good thing going on and you don't need to change it.

To read about how other coupon bloggers organize there stash, just click below:

Couponing For My Cause

MOM Bloggers Club

Couponing To Disney

I believe this is a scrapbooking organization tote and the coupon are all in ziplocs, organized with binder clips

You can buy these plastic file folder tubs at Walmart and you simply use divider tabs on the top.  This is large to be taking into a store though.  Maybe they make mini versions.

This is a much smaller plastic tub with handmade dividers.  This would be easy to put in the child seat of the cart.

If you don't have a ton of coupons then this is a great way to organize.  I do one of these just for my pre-planned trips to the store.  These organizers are cheap to buy also.

3 Free TigTagz Bracelets

These bracelets could be a lifesaver.  GO HERE to TigTagz Facebook page to "like" them and then sign-up.  From what I understand you will be mailed 3 blanks bracelets for you to write in your child's own information.  Shipping is free as well.  These are great for amusement parks, vacations and for special needs children who tend to wander.  I would request these ASAP!!!

Is it worth it to get a Kohl's credit card???

I do not do store credit cards.  My husband and I swore them off years and years ago when we got ourselves into trouble with too much credit debt.  My mother-in-law keeps getting these amazing deals at Kohls because they mail her coupons to use on top of the store sale as long as she purchases them with her store credit card.  Yesterday she bought several clothes priced at 50% and then used a 30% coupon on top of that.

I was wondering what you guys thought about it.  Does anybody else shop the Kohl's sales and what coupons do you get in the mail from them?

My Coupon Experiment

My two nieces are staying with me this weekend.  They are 11 and 12 and I can say that they are a little spoiled.  I've been teaching them about coupons and saving money (which is a hard concept for pre-teens) and the importance of doing it.  So my goal for the weekend is to have chores for them to help me with and they can earn money for them.  But they have to buy some of the items on their back to school list with their own money.  I plan to let them earn $10 each and the items they have to buy themselves are pens, erasers, glue, etc.  At the store I want to show them what the regular price is and add that up for them - hoping it will come up to around $10.  So if they use no coupons and the item is not on sale then they have to use all their money.  But if they match coupons and buy the products that are on sale then they will have money left over for whatever (it will be candy I'm sure).  I'm hoping this works and just gives an example of the importance of smart shopping.  So I will have to report back on my experiment. Wish me luck!!!

Want to come to a Coupon Swap this Sunday?

Ok, so we're going to have our first coupon swap/coupon club this Sunday at 4pm at the Starbucks in North Park on N. First Ave.  We can try to have it at different places and different times around Evansville for anyone who can't make this date.  So we are just going to meet and hang out, swap coupons and stories.  I can't wait.  If your new to couponing and want to come by and ask some questions, please come.  I will be bringing my little one with me, feel free to bring your kids if you need to.  Come by even if you can only stop by for 10 minutes. We'd love to see ya there!

My Target Trip

There is lots of great clearance at the North Park Target that can be combined with coupons.  There is a rack in the baby's department with denim pink jeans for girls marked at $2.50 which will be $.50 after using the $2 off any newborn/kids denim coupon HERE.

There is also a rack of 75% clearance in the women's department.
This shirt was marked $7 on clearance but I price checked it and it was $5.  It ended up being $2 after I used the $3 coupon.  There were lots of these shirts.  There is also denim jeans priced around $17.

I paid $2.12 for everything in this picture.  All the coupon matchups for these are in my previous Target post.

I paid $.50 each for these pillows.  They are called STD (not kidding) pillows and are marked $2.50  and I used the $2 off any pillow coupon HERE.
Not a bad trip at all. They also had their garden and pool stuff marked 50% off.  The North Park Target will be done with their remodel on the 24th and will then have fresh produce, meats and frozen foods.

Yard Sale update

I made almost $90 at my yard sale this weekend and I'm pretty happy with that.  I didn't have any big items, mostly boys clothing at $.50 - $1.  My big seller was ziploc bags of misc. small toys for $.50.  I sold a ton of those and now I can see the floor in my boys bedrooms.  My sister-in-law is an expert in yard sale strategy and below are some of her tips she passed on to me:

- Put out lots of signs that say in big bold letters, yard sale, your address and date.  That's it.  Also, drawing an arrow pointing in the direction of your house helps too.

- Advertise free on craigslist.com and tri-state yard sales on Facebook. List all the different items that you are selling.  Someone may come to your sale just because you said your selling Crocs shoes.

- Spread your stuff out in the yard to make it look big and give people room to walk

- put everything you can on tables, people don't want to bend down and sit on the ground to look through stuff

- offer people a cardboard box to use as a "shopping box" to put their items into.  They can leave it up by you (where your taking money) and carry it around with them. Some people won't buy more than they can hold in their hands and this way they may spend more.

- sale cookies, brownies and bottled water

- put any big baby items like strollers, outdoor toys and such up front.  Lots of people shop for baby items and that will make them stop and shop

- be willing to bargain.

- wash, iron, and run a lint roller on clothing and hang them if you can.  The nicer it looks, the more you can sell it for.

- Have your sale on 2 days like a Friday and Saturday if you can.  You may double your money that way.

If you have any more tips to pass on please leave a comment below.  I'd love to hear more ideas and hopefully it will help someone have a successful yard sale!

New Target Coupons

Target listed up some new coupons today so you may want to go check them out.  Click on the apparel tab and you will see that 2 new coupons are listed for clothing.  You might want to print these now and then wait to use them on a clearance item and possibly get it free.  GO HERE to print your Target coupons.

My Target Trip

Awesome trip to Target.  I bought all this plus 2 half gallons of Silk Almond Milk and a coke for just over $7.  I had no coupons for the milk and coke but everything else was free with overage with my Target coupons.  GO HERE to print a $1 off any Sharpie product, $1 off any 2 Bic Writing instrument, $1 off any Papermate product and $.50 off Scotch Magic Tape. The Bic pens did end up being $.50 after coupons but I used this COUPON HERE which is a manufacturers coupon for the Scotch Magic Tape to give me enough overage to get the Bic Pens FREE.  You can stack the $1 off Scotch tape manufacturers coupon on top of the $.50 Target Scotch tape coupon to get a total of $1.50 off the $1 Scotch tape (for the newbies!) which means Target pays you $.50 for buying this tape.
