My Walmart Shopping Trip

$3.16 for everything purchased here at Walmart. I used a $2/2 Kotex coupon, a $2/2 U by Kotex coupon, a $.55 Rayovac coupon and a $2 GE Energy Smart coupon all of which was printed from www.coupons.com. If you want to get the same deal then print your coupons now before they run out if prints. Remember that you get 2 prints per computer. You can download the Coupons app to your phone or iPad and print coupons from it too if you have a wireless printer. That's why I was able to get so many because we have 2 iPhones, an iPad and 2 laptops.

Using Youtube to Coupon???

Here is one of my number one tips on how to find hidden deals.  Youtube!  Sounds weird but it works.  Go to youtube and search "unadvertised coupon deal" and then look for videos that have been posted within the last 2 days.  Check to make sure it's for a store that we have local and then watch the short video.  There are couponers all over the country that don't use blogs, Facebook or Re-clip it but use Youtube to make videos in order to pass on deals.  Many times there are unadvertised or hidden deals and when a couponer comes across this it can mean big savings for the rest of us.  Especially when they make a video on it and explain the deal, show you the exact product and even show you the receipt.  It's great if your a visual leaner like me.

So for example, last year I saw a video on a unadvertised Skintimate shaving gel deal at CVS.  The can was priced $2.49 and it was producing a $2.50 ECB with a limit of 100.  Yes, I said 100 which is unheard of for CVS.  Not only that, but the ECB was rolling.  So I went straight out to a CVS and saw the product with no sign but purchased 4 of them.  Sure enough it printed me a $10 ECB.  So I ended up buying 22 cans between 4 stores (I didn't clear the shelves).  I let my sister-in-law know about the deal as well so she could hit up the Warrick county stores as well as posting on the blog.  The video was posted on a Sunday night and I made my visit to the CVS at 9am on Monday morning and by noon on Monday the deal went dead.  That just means that the computer system stopped producing the ECB.  I later found out that CVS corporate made a mistake by setting the limit at 100 and letting the ECB roll and quickly found out and stopped the deal.  But thanks to YouTube, I was able to get 22 cans and so was many other couponers.  I called around and found out that every CVS in the tri-state was sold out of the Skintimate. I certainly wasn't the only one who found out about this great deal. That's the power of the word of mouth and I love it.

So the moral of the story, add Youtube to your list of places to look for coupon deals.  Especially on Sunday and Monday which I find to be the best days for deals.

My Summer of Savings

My goal is for this summer to be my summer of savings.  I'm going through every bill to find ways to trim them down and hitting the coupon shopping HARD.  It's time to get stockpiled again and dedicate myself to being utterly frugal.  So I will post my deals and progress I make along the way in case it may help someone else too.  My first goal is my internet/cable/phone bill.  We pay a ridiculous amount because we live in the middle of nowhere and have very few options.

I'll also be doing some traveling this summer and plan to coupon in other cities and explore what savings I can get outside my area.  It should be fun so stay tuned...

Does this happen to you?

So last night I was going to Walmart and I had over 50 coupons ready and my list written out.  I was going to use a coupon on every item I was buying and with several items being free after redeeming the coupon.  As I was leaving the house I saw my husband writing on my list.  He wanted a new wire brush to scrub the grill, hamburger buns and a new toilet brush for the bathroom.  I looked at him and said "I don't have a coupon for those things."  He said "but your going to Walmart."

Ok, so he's not a couponer and doesn't understand that I was going for a goal to get my grocery purchase to a 50% savings and using a coupon for everything I purchased.  He was trying to mess my numbers up and increase my purchase percentage. I told him, "I'll have to get those items another time."

So the end of the story is that I did get the hamburger buns and "forgot" to get the other 2 items. I'll get those other 2 items at the Dollar General store when they have the $5 off a $25 purchase coupon. It just drives me crazy to pay full price for ANYTHING.  I try to get a deal, use a coupon or find a sale on everything I can.  It's a principle to live by and also a necessity.

My poor husband is tortured by his couponing wife.  I stick fast food restaurant coupons in his wallet and then will text him at his lunch break to remind him to use his coupons.  He doesn't get to choose which brand of shaving cream or body wash he wants, he gets what I was able to get for FREE with coupons.  I seem to either have 22 sticks of deodorant and none at all.  I do believe it's a tough life being a couponers husband.
